Our VISION

Strong, healthy, prosperous Kenyan communities, taking ownership of their destiny.

Our MISSION

Create networks, strengthen partnerships, empower communities.

Our VALUES

We are committed to cultivating a culture of generosity.
Our commitment is motivated by Jesus Christ’ call to serve those in need.

Piye operates under the following guiding principles:
1. Culturally Respectful: We have a deep understanding and respect for Kenyan culture which is evident in all that we do. Kenyan’s founded Piye and retain key positions on the Board and management of Piye. They embody the dream and are the link for Australians to the Kenyan communities we support.
2. Community-owned and Community-driven: We believe that solutions are only sustainable when they are community-owned and community-driven. We allow the community’s voice to be a driving force in the development of programs. In most cases, communities show their commitment to partnership through the donation of land, resources or labour.
3. Transparency and Accountability: Our motto is to work only with community groups that are transparent and accountable in their activities. Piye is also committed to being transparent in its activities and accountable to its members.
4. Partnerships: We work through identity based partnerships, seeking to connect supporters from Australia to partners in Kenya with whom they may have an affinity: school to school, business to business, farmer to farmer, person to person. Through these partnerships we create a shared vision and a sense of belonging within the global village.
5. Equity: We support groups and activities that will benefit and build the capacity of the community at large.
6. Capacity Building: We focus on utilising local resources and local capacity to address needs, and, through collaboration and education, we aim to increase capacity within our partners.
7. Sustainability: Our programs are designed so that we are not simply offering hand-outs. We ensure that after a defined period, the community is self-sustaining and Piye can embark on supporting other communities
8. Demonstrable Impact: We are committed to achieving results, to evaluating what we do and to building the evidence base that we need to support our activities.

Our STRATEGIC DIRECTIVES

The following strategic directions will guide our decision making, resource allocation, research and partnerships over the next five years.
1. Continue to support the implementation of sustainable community development projects identified by our partners that build the long term strength and capacity of these communities.
2. Establish strong partnerships with other organisations and individuals who share a desire to work with and through communities in Kenya to build strong, healthy and prosperous communities.
3. Continue to develop the strength and capacity of our young, dynamic, innovative, ‘can-do’ organisation.
